The irrigation schedule on this page is only a starting point and should only serve as a recommendation.

Properly irrigating your plants helps them develop a healthy root system.

For plants to develop a healthy root system they need water to be applied at an appropriate depth.

• Plantings in early development need water more frequently and for shorter periods over time, water should be applied less frequently and for longer durations.
• Applying water too frequently encourages plants to develop a superficial root
• Watering too frequently can also result in the growth of fungus which can damage or kill your plants. Soil near the surface should be given time to dry out between watering.
• Struggling plants may show visible signs when they are water deprived – wilting, yellowing of leaves,
• Soil conditions can have a significant impact on the irrigation For example, rocky soils generally require irrigation to be applied more frequently than clays soil.
• If your sprinkler system has rotor heads consider doubling your run time for lawn

The recommended watering schedules for lawns do not include water schedules for transitional seasons. Below is a suggested watering schedule.

• 4 – Winter rye Dormant grasses may not require artificial irrigation in the winter, rain can be adequate.

Established Landscape Watering Guidelines

  These Guidelines are for established plants. Additional Water is needed for unusually hot or dry weather. Less water is needed during rainy or cooler weather.
